Earlier this year, my college had a writing competition to honor the 20th year anniversary of 9/11. The competition was titled, “What does 9/11 Mean To You?”. Students were encouraged to submit creative writing pieces and/or an interview they preformed asking someone what they remember about this day 20 years ago.
I decided to submit both: a creative poem I wrote and an interview I conducted with my mom. My poem, Weathered Loss, earned Third Place in the contest.
If you want to read my poem, you can check it out below.
